You need fuel, no way around it, so get over it.
If the prices are too high for basically everyone (except for Bush's 2%) and all the bitching is getting you no where, march out into the streets and demand your government to do something about it. This is a democracy, we are responsible for what goes on. Otherwise i'm over it.

I'd suck up sun-energy if I had the balls to do it.
I completely agree....
it's about damn time that we see some real radicalism against the insane amount of money that we're being coerced into spending by the government's scheme into slowing dribbling us deeper into the need for a presence in west asian countries. Instead, lets use some of the technology that we know, and start placing some massive taxes on those who want to purchase those gas guzzling hummer's which makes them oh so more of an American. GM actually had a plan they were working on simultaneously with the new H3, a car that got 39 mpg city. Come on people... its about damn time that we start a real revolution instead of piss on about it. Radicalism is the real way to get anything of this size to start dismantling.
It is a problem, to be sure.
While there are alternatives to petro-chemicals, they all have downsides and don't really address the real problem. We as a country consume more than we produce. The true radical solution is to consume much, much less. I hope the price of gas goes up. Maybe we'll finally be forced to turn our cars in for decent public transit or (gasp!) hop on a damn bike and exercise.
